Spanish, Salsa & Excursions
The international language school PRIVATEACHER now runs “Spanish for Foreigners” programs for individuals and small groups inside Casa Blanca Hostel. It doesn't get any easier than this - live and learn Spanish at Casa Blanca Hostel in Cali.
Colombia is recognized as one of the best places to learn Spanish, the use of the grammatical structures and the clear pronunciation of Colombian Spanish helps a lot of foreigners learn quickly.
1. SURVIVAL SPANISH
20 hours program where students will learn basic phrases or expressions in Spanish, which are needed when traveling in Colombia and Latin America.
It includes one city tour and one hour of salsa classes.
2. ONE ON ONE
Visiting Colombia for a short time, but still wish to learn a little Spanish, taking individual Spanish classes by the hour might be right for you?
All teachers will adapt to the students needs. If you already speak the language a little, but wish to brush up on your knowledge in grammar, improve you vocabulary or simply want to step up your level of comprehension and communication - this is for you!
3. STANDARD PROGRAM
This program gives you the opportunity to explore Valle del Cauca (The Cauca Valley) while learning Spanish. In two weeks the group will receive 40 hours of Spanish lessons, which will vastly improve their Spanish language skills.
During the mornings, students receive four hours of academic Spanish lessons in CASA BLANCA HOSTEL. In the afternoon, students form field study groups of two to three people and with the teacher, go visit the most interesting places around Valle del Cauca in order to develop communication skills in real life.
During the two weeks the group will visit the following places of interest in the Cauca Valley:
● Calima lake
● San Cipriano
● Salsa Tour
● Nirvana
● Topacio
4. TRAVEL AND LEARN PROGRAM
The Travel and Learn Spanish Program is specially designed to discover the beautiful Colombia while studying and learning Spanish fast with certified teachers on the go. You are able to explore the Pacific Coast, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Medellín.
The Travel and Learn Program is an intensive program taught while traveling in the most amazing and exotics areas of Colombia. The student receives 4 hours of Spanish lessons every day, plus hours of conversation during the excursions, walks, during the meals etc.

Clubs
Tin Tin Deo (tintindeocali.com) is a Cali institution with photos of salsa maestros on the walls. It is regularly touted as the best place in town.
Zaperoco (zaperocobar.com) is a tiny club with a big reputation.
El Habanero plays salsa with Cuban rhythms on Wed and Thu night.
Changó (chango.com.co), on the outskirts of Cali in party-central Juanchito district, is where the beautiful people strut their stuff.
Events
Delirio (delirio.com.co), on the last Friday of the month, is Cali's answer to Cirque de Soleil, with hundreds of dancers, acrobats and musicians. Incredible.
Festival Mundial de Salsa (festivalsalsacali.com) in September is a competition between around 5,000 young dancers from Colombia and worldwide.
Feria de Cal (25-31 Dec, feriadecali.com) is the biggest party of the year with live music and carnival-style parades across the city.
Salsa y Verano (calideferia.com), in late July, has plenty of live music in the Parque de la Musica in the north of Cali plus seminars on the history of salsa.

Spanish for Foreigners (Survival Spanish), is a program that seeks to promote cultural Exchange, enrich the Spanish language skills and expand knowledge of people who are interested of traveling, living and working in Colombia.
Our main desire is to share with students different variables of our rich culture through the teaching of our language, Spanish, which once learnt, will allow them to communicate and interact with people and situations they will face when visiting different settings, such us restaurants, shopping centers, banks, transportation, etc.
OBJECTIVES:
• Students will learn basic phrases or expressions in Spanish, which will help them when communicating in contexts of daily living.
· Know more about Colombian, and Caleña’ culture in order to get easy in our city.
METHODOLOGY
The program is based on communicative approach, reading comprehension skills, reading and learning strategies.
Listening activities will be implemented, this methodology comes from education with specific purposes approach.
Different activities will be carried out; these activities will be focused on the acquisition of the Spanish language phonetics (Colombian Spanish).
We will use also readings and will learn by heart some dialogues which are contextualized in different scenarios where the students will be in contact during their visit in Colombia.
We will be also developing cultural activities and tourism. At this point the students will have the opportunity to share their experiences in the social, gastronomic, and musical field, as well as, live first hand Colombian folklore.
